About the Project

Project "Culture of minorities in Europe" is realised by five educational institutions from Germany, Malta, Poland, Spain and UK.

The main activity of the project is the development of an international exhibition, dealing with the topic "culture of minorities in Europe". It is developed by elderly learners within three main steps:

  • The research: the life of selected minorities in the partner countries was studied with regard to the question "do their conventions and customs still play an active role in their daily live?"
  • The transformation of the results into exhibition material (poster, video).
  • Five exhibitions in the partner countries.

Minorities are often left aside in society. A lack of awareness of the existence and of the culture of minorities can be noticed in almost all European countries. The main objective of the project is to get to know the culture of the selected minorities, their point of view, their lifeā€¦

The selected minorities:

  • Germany: Danish minorities (Friesians), Sorbs and German Sinti and Roma
  • Malta: African refugees
  • Poland: German minority and Vietnamese immigrants
  • Spain: Galician minority
  • UK: Gypsies and Travellers
